Description: Although Blocksburg officially became a town when the post office was established in 1877, the first church wasn’t built until 1899. It was doomed from the start. Built by a Methodist minister named William Jensen, it was destroyed by fire the night before the dedication and before any services were ever held. With the help of the community, however, it was rebuilt on the present site and dedicated September 8, 1901. This photograph was taken in 1920.
