The auction held every year at the Blocksburg Town Hall Ice Cream Picnic is to raise money for the June Burgess Memorial Scholarship Fund. June was a charter member of the Town Hall Association and worked hard to get it organized and productive. She served in some capacity almost continuously, holding the offices of president, vice president, secretary/treasurer, and historian. She was also responsible for reviving the Ice Cream Picnic in 1962. Her recipes are still used for the ice cream.
June was a teacher and taught many of the local children. She died suddenly December 16, 1974. Two scholarships are given each year to deserving students from our immediate area (Blocksburg, Alderpoint, and Fort Seward).
